Sprinkler moved to new field

Llama poo provides nutrients

This morning, we finished irrigating the field along Ferguson road. The sprinkler and pipe were moved to the field immediately east of the driveway, called the Center field. Our first sprinkler set today was four hours in the northwest corner of Center field.

We are looking forward to getting our tractor, Big Red, out to the farm on Friday. To move the sprinkler and irrigation pipe today we used a motorcycle!

Also shown in these photos are the places where the llamas deposit their manure. They go in the same places, and you can see it affects the fertility of those spots. Concentrating the llama poo in specific areas may, over time, change the composition of grasses in the field. This is something we’ll be looking at when we can get a pasture/grass specialist out to the farm.
