The farm is 13.15 acres in farm deferral, an acre for the home, and an acre for a woodlot.
Our woodlot is primarily tall Douglas fir trees, but there are a few Oregon ash trees on one side. The fir trees are in the southwest corner of the property (behind the metal “new barn”) where the stream runs through, helping provide organic matter to the stream and cooling shade for fish.
The local pair of redtail hawks enjoy perching in the tip-top branches of the tall firs, and a week ago a family of racoons went up one of the ash trees for a snooze.
