We are required to use “radon rock” under the building slab so that any radon gas that seeps out of the ground can go to the atmosphere instead of being trapped under the slab and eventually leaking into the building.

The location of the stormwater outfall line is very rocky. This was a surprise. It needs to be excavated four feet deep. We thought we could do it with an air spade but that is not going to work. We’ll need to use an excavator, and that means removing more trees than we had hoped.

The excavation company discovered that the ground east of the driveway was very soft and full of roots. We approved a change order to excavate more material so that a thicker rock base could be installed to support the wider driveway.
